For the first time in Germany, a monographic exhibition is devoted to Barcelona around 1900 and the flourishing of Modernisme, a broad cultural movement that developed primarily in Catalonia.
Featuring approximately 160 works spanning painting, sculpture, furniture and architectural models, the exhibition offers an overview of the city’s cultural and artistic scene. Alongside leading figures in the visual arts, such as the young Pablo Picasso, Ramon Casas and Hermen Anglada Camarasa, the exhibition also features key figures in architecture, including Antoni Gaudí and Lluís Domènech i Montaner.
With the aim of offering a comprehensive picture of Barcelona at the turn of the century, the exhibition adds other important cultural centres located near the city, such as Sitges and Mallorca, while also addressing the social tensions of the time.
The Casacuberta Marsans Collection is contributing to this international exhibition on Barcelona by lending five major works.
