The exhibition presents some of the most important artists of the 20th century, from Gaudí to Picasso, as the title suggests, as well as Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró, Santiago Rusiñol, Joaquim Mir and Isidre Nonell, among many others. Through these artists, who lived and worked in Barcelona, many of whom came from other parts of Spain and the world, including Darío de Regoyos, the exhibition introduces what Barcelona was like at the turn of the century: an open, cosmopolitan city connected to Paris and to Europe’s main artistic centres.
Curated by Jordi Falgàs, the exhibition features a selection of works from the Carmen Thyssen Collection, alongside important pieces from other institutional and private collections.
