His artistic quest began by transforming reality through light and reached its highest expression in his works from Mallorca, where form dissolves into colour. The creative intensity he experienced throughout this period led to his admission to a psychiatric institution, followed by his recovery in the nearby village of L&#8217;Aleixar. There, he continued the artistic experimentation he had initiated in Mallorca and produced some of the most significant landscapes of his entire career.<\/p>\n<p>Among the few figurative works painted during this period is El xerroteig, about which Alexandre de Riquer wrote:<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dcd860a e-con-full e-flex e-con e-child\" data-id=\"dcd860a\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-035b132 elementor-widget__width-inherit elementor-widget-mobile__width-inherit elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"035b132\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">According to Francesc Miralles, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">El xerroteig<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, together with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Les velles<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Els cantaires<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">El Vell petaca<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, \u201cforms an extraordinary ensemble of figurative paintings, free from the excesses of the \u2018Black Spain\u2019 tradition yet equally, if not more, representative. It is among his most genuinely personal works, embodying all the many qualities of his art. The mountains in the background, with its mauve and violet tones, the indulgent variety of greens, and the radiant brilliance of our golden sun.
